Today is a sad day for our community. A big legend has left us. 

Mike Anderson was one of the most influential figures in the evolution of martial arts in the 20th century: a true innovator and pioneer. He was the creator of the rules for sport karate and full-contact karate. He was the organiser and promoter of the legendary first professional full-contact world championship, held in September 1974 in Los Angeles, an event that revolutionised the world of combat sports forever and sparked a genuine global boom in this new discipline. He was the editor of martial arts magazines (undoubtedly among the best of all time), co-founder of the PKA and WAKO, and the first president of the latter organisation, which is now recognised by the International Olympic Committee.
